Marble mantles were common throughout the Victorian era, with Carrara marble perhaps the most popular choice. Limestone provides a more contemporary interpretation of the traditional styles shown here.
Mantels with product codes beginning gesm can be made to order in different sizes. Samples of the stone material can be posted out before an order is taken.

Based on an 18th cetury design the Rammelt has block feet, flowing reeded jambs, block capitals, a plain frieze and a three tier moulded edge to the shelf.

An example of how good design will always endure. This piece, with its bolection detailing was based on an original of around 1730.
The legs are angled and recessed and the plinth returns to a square interior. Now, it has been adapted to a modern design and offers a simple yet effective frame for a fireplace.

Originally dating from the 1830's, this style of mantel was revived by the Edwardians.
In contrast to the Flat Victorian, the frieze spans both the aperture and the jambs, showing the marble to great advantage.

The Catherine mantel has simple legs with an arched frieze and a plain back panel included. It's charming simplicity lends itself to most 20th century house interiors displaying the natural beauty of the chosen stone.
Due to its contruction this mantel and back panel is only suitable for use with a gas fire.
It would need to be split and slabbed for use with solid fuel (P.O.A.)

An imposing Arts and Crafts Fireplace Mantel with tapered leg detail. It's classical lines are equally suited to period and modern settings.
The Arts and Crafts movement stressed craft values and simplicity as a reaction to industrialisation.
In Scotland, Charles Rennie Mackintosh developed a distinctive look which is reflected in the Clyde basket shown with this surround.

A plain mid Victorian period mantel similar in style to the Flat Victorian mantel. It has simple square capitals at top of straight legs with small block feet. There is moulding above the foot blocks and below the capitals.
This is a photograph of the slightly smaller Brompton 56 Mantel. A metal fillet (£75) could be made to make this insert fit into the Brompton 60 mantel.

Solid and imposing, reflecting the pomp and circumstance of Edwardian times.
This mantel has raised and fielded panels in the jambs, frieze and corner blocks. The shelf has a concave scotia moulding whilst the legs have quadrant outer returns.
