A mid to late Victorian mantel with impressive ornate extended corbels with a shell motif.
The plain frieze is supported on small brackets at the corner of fireplace opening. Tke Kingston has block feet with a moulded top and moulded edge to the shelf. It would have been found in many a drawing room in middle class Victorian homes.
